Kavon's BIo

Kavon Eccleston-Hutchinson is an Assistant Psychologist and researcher with a background in clinical and community psychology, bringing both evidence-based expertise and frontline experience supporting marginalized and diverse communities. He holds a Master of Science in Psychological Sciences from the University of Limerick, where his academic work focused on mental health, social support, cultural identity, and psychological wellbeing.

Through his professional role within Ireland’s Children’s Disability Network Teams, Kavon works directly with children, adolescents, and families presenting with neurodevelopmental, emotional, and psychological needs. His work includes psychological assessment, therapeutic intervention, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the development of family-centred supports that promote inclusion, autonomy, and long-term wellbeing.

Drawing on professional experience across Ireland and Canada, Kavon brings an internationally informed and systems-aware perspective, shaped by an understanding of how support systems succeed — and where they fall short — across different cultural and service contexts. His approach is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practice, supporting equitable access to mental health resources and community-driven healing initiatives.

In addition to his clinical work, Kavon is actively engaged in psychological research focused on identity, belonging, and mental health outcomes, strengthening his ability to bridge academic knowledge with real-world community impact. His work emphasizes the creation of psychologically safe, affirming environments where individuals and families feel respected, understood, and empowered within their healing journeys.

As a board member, he contributes strategic insight on mental health programming, ethical service development, and inclusive community engagement in support of Karen’s Afro-Carib Healing Space’s mission to foster healing, resilience, and collective wellbeing.
