Founded in 2020, Karen’s Afro-Carib Healing Space was established in response to the need for culturally grounded, community-based mental health and wellbeing supports for children, youth, and families.
The organization is named in honour of the founder’s aunt, a dedicated community worker whose commitment to care, service, and supporting others continues to inspire the vision and values of Karen’s Space.
Rooted in Afro-Caribbean healing philosophies and community-centered practice, the organization was created to reflect the lived experiences, strengths, and needs of African, Black, Caribbean, racialized, and underserved communities.
Since its founding, Karen’s Space has grown into a healing-centered organization offering wellness programming, psychoeducation, peer support, advocacy, and community engagement initiatives that promote connection, resilience, and collective care.

Healing is not simply the absence of crisis. At Karen's Afro-Carib Healing Space, we believe healing is a lifelong journey of reconnecting with ourselves, our culture, our relationships, and our communities. We recognize that mental health is shaped not only by individual experiences but also by family, community, culture, and systemic realities. Our work creates spaces where children, youth, young adults, and families can build resilience, strengthen identity, and experience healing through connection, cultural affirmation, and collective care.

A nonprofit is as strong as the community that holds it up. Your support and contributions will help us to meet our goals and continue to provide support.
Tangible gifts go a long way to support the delivery of programs. We always welcome items for wellness kits, gift cards and more.
